New Chief Administrative Officer

Cypress County appoints a new Chief Administrative Officer - September 12, 2018

Council is pleased to announce that Ms. Tarolyn Aaserud has been selected as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Cypress County. She will be assuming her new role and responsibilities on November 13, 2018.

This is the key leadership position within the County Administration. “We are fortunate, along with the assistance of DCG Executive Search Services Ltd., to have attracted strong candidates” said Deputy Reeve Dan Hamilton.

With over 20 years of senior leadership experience in municipal government, and nearly 15 of those years as a CAO, Ms. Aaserud brings a unique mix of urban and rural experience to the County. She began her career as an Agriculture and Environmental Services Manager before transitioning into more senior and general administrative roles. She has been instrumental in contributing to a level of sophistication, progress, and economic growth everywhere she has been. Coupled with extensive experience, educational credentials, and administrative knowledge as they pertain directly to local government, Ms. Aaserud is wanting to move closer to her family who have resided in the Cypress County area for years. Council feels that Ms. Aaserud will be a strong asset to administration, the County, and the region. “Her obvious commitment to teamwork with staff and customer service came through in her interview with Council”, said Reeve Richard Oster.

Council wishes to thank Interim CAO Peter Tarnawsky and Cypress County staff for all their hard work over the last several months while the search for a new CAO was conducted. Council is excited about continuing the positive momentum and feels that with the addition of Ms. Aaserud to the existing senior leadership team, Cypress County is well positioned for the future.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Tarolyn Aaserud and her husband to the community.
