INFORMATION ALERT - Wednesday, April 18, 2018 8:30 A.M.

Southern Alberta has been experiencing large amounts of overland flooding in the MD of Taber, County of Forty Mile and Lethbridge Counties.  While Cypress County is not experiencing any overland flooding, many tributaries from neighboring municipalities flow into Murray Reservoir and creeks downstream of Murray Reservoir which flows through Cypress County.  It is highly likely that as of April 18, 2018, SMRID will begin releasing water down Seven Persons Creek which may cause flooding in low lying areas.  Residents are advised to stay away from creek banks and take precautions to move machinery and equipment out of the flood zones if possible.  AEM and SMRID officials are in contact with County officials and the three agencies are working together closely to monitor the situation.   Please see the Alberta Health Services website for flood related resources: Coping with Emergencies
